Those of Noble Blood

The Baron

Baron Jaime Luis Esteban de Aragon of the Hazat

My lord and employer, the Baron is a good man, though perhaps more mired in tradition than he cares to admit. He has always treated me well, and I think he tries to treat most in a similar vein. I do believe he treats his children a bit hard, though, especially the younger ones. After driving both his youngest son and daughter to travel I think, perhaps, he is beginning to realize his mistake at being so heavy-handed with them. The pressure that I see being put on him by the nobles higher in the house to complete this quest might also have something to do with his current attitudes and activities. It remains to be seen if he will be changed by the current delimmas or if he is too old to change his ways.

Ricardo

Don Ricardo Valentin Eduardo de Aragon of the Hazat

The young master, I had not seen him in quite a few years before his arrival on our doorstep in answer to his father's summons just a few months ago. Initially he seemed little different from the young rebel who had stormed from the house previously, but I have seen him change since returning from his quest. He seems to have finally found some form of calling, but, like his father, it remains to be seen whether he will sink back into his old ways with the coming of the quest's end. Interestingly enough a young boy, seemingly five years of age, claiming to be his son arrived at the new years festival and Ricardo has accepted, somewhat reluctantly, responsibility for his charge: something he would never have done before.

Maria

Dona Maria Fe Eduardo de Aragon of the Hazat

The youngest child in the household for the longest time, Maria, I must admit, has long been my favorite. She behaves with perfect etiquette and treats her family quite appropriately, save that she has a strong competitive streak that brought her to constantly engage in contests of skill with her family members, especially the young Don. Eventually, however, she seems to have grown tired of constantly being used as a liason and window-dressing by her father for she set off on the quest with her brother. This was, I am certain, no doubt due in some part to the prodding of one An-hetep-f Griffen, the Reeve. It has been interesting to have an outsider's perspective on the relationship between those two, and I am not quite certain whether their odd friendship will result in deep love or abiding hatred.

Ruiz

Hadith Isfahan Ruiza de Los Santos de Vera Cruz, Householder to the Hazat

The bodyguard to the Don, Ruiza is an extremely interesting figure. He seems to live his life based on dual concepts of duty and honor, which I speculate have come to become opposing as his duty to the Hazat has begun to conflict with the honor he has seemingly placed in the care of the Dame Obelia. In my experience he is incredibly loyal to both the house and the Don, but chafes at the oath that is holding him here. This was brought out violently in the recent conflict within the party that resulted in his removal of his own finger in order to make up for a percieved lack of continued duty on his part, but which also seems, in my opinion, to have been somewhat of a shock-stunt designed to free him from his oath to the Baron, a stunt that failed miserably. Yet I was also privy to the rumors at the party that Duke Enrico has offered him a place under his tutelage and banner just as soon as his current work for the house is completed. This, no doubt, serves as a bright light at the end of the tunnel for the young man, and I would not be at all surprised to find him living happily ever after if he can simply persevere through the current trials.

Obelia

Dame Obelia Xanthippe

I can say very little about this young woman for the fact that I have had little to no experience with her. Chatting with various householders of the other nobles at the New Year's festival I was surprised to learn that she at some point began an affair with the Don's own bodyguard, Ruiza. On a more detailed note, she is the prize student of Duke Enrico, a near-master of the Shaidan fighting arts. Like many in her house she has taken to mercenary employment in order to finance her lifestyle (which includes a wide variety of expensive clothing, as she seems to have studied the applications of style alongside the martial arts). It is uncertain as to why she continues this, as the Duke would no doubt be willing to accept her into his household, but it no doubt has to do with pride. No doubt this pride and mercenary nature have a great deal to do with the romance between herself and Ruiza.
